We get asked all the time - why are your popups typically fullscreen? Let's dig into it!

Over the past 8 years, we have tested our fullscreen designs against the traditional "card style" popups and every time the fullscreen outperforms! πŸ’ͺ

Don't believe us? Check out our findings below + see some examples! πŸš€

πŸ€” Why + How Does Fullscreen Work?

  1. Users are fully engaged in the popup.

🌟 When the popup appears, not only is it beautiful and well branded to your site (so it seamlessly feels like part of the site experience), but it's also eye catching and engaging. By creating an experience that is engaging and beautiful, there is a higher likelihood that your users will interact with the campaign and opt-in.

  2. Our designs have opacity on the top layer background container so that users can still see the site behind it.

🌟 This is crucial. Amped was designed to make popups and it's where we SHINE -- What we've learned is that you can use a fullscreen design and still have a great user experience, if the site is even slightlyyyy visible behind the content. By doing this, you reduce any worry that the user has been taken off the site and there is confirmation that the site is still accessible behind them if they choose to exit the campaign.

    1. 🚨 Note: Amped also does not lock the site when the campaign is active... users can still scroll and see page movement (without being distracting) to confirm this.

  3. We encourage including your logo as a visual queue that they are still on your site.

🌟 What's the point of this? It's a great second reminder to users that the content they're seeing is from you/your site. When the logo isn't included, there's room for confusion and for users to think that what they're seeing is not from you and they abandon. To ensure this isn't the case, we always recommend you include your brand logo on your campaigns.

    1. Our Amped.io Templates come pre-built with a spot for your logo to make this super seamless!

  4. After LOTS of testing, we do not see any statistically significant proof that fullscreen designs (when done right) increase bounce rate

🌟 This is something we get asked a lot - reasonably so - and we have worked incredibly hard to make sure that all of our designs, templates, recommended setups, etc. lead to the absolute best experience for you as a user of Amped and your visitors on your site. We have found that with the magic of Amped, and the reasons listed above, we have been able to successfully use fullscreen designs without any significant change in bounce rate on the site.
